19th Century Cabin Grand Opening!

The Grand Opening of our 19th Century cabin is almost here!  We are eager to see Phase II of the Museum of the Confederacy-Appomattox start with such an exciting event on October 17th.  With this cabin, we can more easily accomplish our expanded mission by showcasing the civilian life during the American Civil War, both to school children and to our visitors.

It has been exciting to watch the dismantling and moving of the Joel Carnefix cabin and the reconstruction on our grounds over the past 6 months. (See the pictures below for some views of the process)

Please join us on Saturday, October 17, to see demonstrations of life in the rural South during the American Civil War. You can also read the Lynchburg News & Advance story of the cabin
