White House Wednesday | Jefferson Davis’ Home Office

Throughout the war, Jefferson Davis’ official office was at the executive office building on Bank Street, blocks away from the White House of the Confederacy, where Davis also kept a home office. Today, Davis’ Bank Street desk and chair are on display in the White House office, which adjoins the master bed chamber. From home however, he did most of his work from this small table which is displayed under the windows in the office.  Tours of the White House are offered daily.
