Homeschool Day: How Do We Know What We Know?

Homeschool Day: How Do We Know What We Know?

Location:

Historic Tredegar & White House and Museum of the Confederacy

While history seems simple and straightforward, the historical process is anything but. How does history evolve over time? Join the American Civil War Museum to explore how we learn about the past, uncovering the complex lives of people who lived through the Civil War by examining replica artifacts they could have used, primary source documents, and spaces they inhabited. How can we put these pieces together to tell the stories of peoples' lives, choices, and consequences? How does learning about the past change how we understand the present?

Programs take place simultaneously at both Richmond locations during a morning and afternoon session and include special tours of the White House of the Confederacy and Brown's Island, as well as hands-on classroom programs exploring documents and artifacts. You can choose to do either site or both. Museum admission is included.
