Book Talk with Chris Mackowski & Frank J. Scaturro
February 2 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Ulysses S. Grant finished the war as a lieutenant general in command of the U. S. Army and shortly afterwards became president. Despite this, for nearly a century his military and political career has, until recently, remained misunderstood. Join authors, Chris Mackowski & Frank J. Scaturro, as they reconsider the life and legacy of U.S. Grant.

Chris Mackowski, Ph.D., is the editor-in-chief and a co-founder of Emerging Civil War, and the managing editor of the Emerging Civil War Series published by Savas Beatie. Chris is a writing professor in the Jandoli School of Communication at St. Bonaventure University, where he also serves as the associate dean for undergraduate programs, and the historian-in-residence at Stevenson Ridge, a historic property on the Spotsylvania Court House battlefield.
Frank Scaturro is an attorney and author. His previous writings include President Grant Reconsidered (1998) and The Supreme Court’s Retreat from Reconstruction (2000). He is also the president of the Grant Monument Association, which is dedicated to the preservation of Grant’s Tomb. He currently serves as vice president and senior counsel of the Judicial Crisis Network.
