SUMMARY:Father James Sheeran of the 14th Louisiana
DESCRIPTION:Reverend Robert J. Miller discusses Father James Sheeran who was considered by some\, one of the most colorful figures\, of Lee’s Army of Northern Virginia. He was a widower\, an Irish immigrant\, and a dedicated Catholic priest\, and an outspoken warrior of the ‘Lord’s Army’ whether North or South. He was heard to be blunt\, outspoken and cantankerous to officers\, soldiers and even civilians. Yet\, his spiritual and personal attention to the troops in his care was exemplary.

SUMMARY:The Surrenders of the Confederacy
DESCRIPTION:The Confederate surrender at Appomattox featured the stacking of arms\, the surrender of colors\, and the review of troops—a noble and orderly ceremony that has captured the American imagination for 160 years. But Appomattox was only the beginning of the end. Beyond Virginia\, the Confederacy surrendered in bits and pieces\, in a series of scattered events marked by confusion\, chaos\, and controversy lacking all of Appomattox’s romance and reconciliation. The last flag down wouldn’t even come until November. Join us for a trip to places American history has forgotten: Bennett Place\, North Carolina; Citronelle\, Alabama; Galveston\, Texas; Doaksville\, Oklahoma; and more. \n\n\n\nPresented by Dr. Chris Mackowski\, co-founder of Emerging Civil War

SUMMARY:"Now We Stand By Each Other Always" - a performance in three acts.
DESCRIPTION:Rudely Stamp’d Historical Impressions presents “Now We Stand by Each Other Always” November 14th at the American Civil War Museum at Appomattox Court House. \n\n\n\nThis three-act play features a series of conversations between Genls. Grant and Sherman over the course of the Civil War.  These conversations take place at key moments in the war and demonstrate the evolving friendship between the men – Vicksburg\, MS in 1863\, Cincinnati\, OH in 1864 and City Point\, VA in 1865. \n\n\n\nHeroes of the Union war effort\, Grant and Sherman were unlikely friends with dramatically different personalities.  Grant\, ever stoic\, was quiet\, reticent and almost shy.  Sherman\, on the other hand\, was manic\, nervous\, fidgety and intense.  Despite these differences\, the men forged a friendship in the fire of war and led the Union’s armies to ultimate victory.

SUMMARY:Virtual Book Talk: Never Such a Campaign
DESCRIPTION:Follow Generals Robert E. Lee and John Pope as they converge on ground bloodied just thirteen months earlier. Since then\, the armies had grown in size and efficiency\, and combat between them would dwarf that first battle. For the second summer in a row\, forces would clash on the plains of Manassas\, and the results would be far more terrible. Join us as historians Dan Welch and Kevin Pawlak explore the Battle of Second Manassas.

SUMMARY:"The Unvanquished" with Patrick O'Donnell
DESCRIPTION:The Unvanquished: The Untold Story of Lincoln’s Special Forces\, the Manhunt for Mosby’s Rangers\, and the Shadow War That Forged America’s Special Operations\n\n\n\n\nThe Civil War is famously known for the huge battles that defined it such as Gettysburg\, Antietam\, and Shiloh. However\, bestselling author Patrick K. O’Donnell reveals in his book The Unvanquished that there was a crucial shadow war that took place amid and away from the major battlefields\, which was in many ways just as consequential to the conflict’s outcome. At the center of this groundbreaking narrative is the remarkable story of Lincoln’s special forces – the Jessie Scouts – told in its entirety for the first time. \n\n\n\nPatrick K. O’Donnell is a bestselling\, critically acclaimed military historian and an expert on elite units. The author of thirteen books\, including The Indispensables\, The Unknowns\, and Washington’s Immortals\, he is the recipient of numerous national awards. O’Donnell served as a combat historian in a Marine rifle platoon during the Battle of Fallujah and is a professional speaker on America’s conflicts\, espionage\, special operations\, and counterinsurgency. He has provided historical consulting for DreamWorks’ award-winning miniseries Band of Brothers and for documentaries produced by the BBC\, the History Channel\, and Discovery. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nALL SALES ARE FINAL.
