Will my National Park Service (NPS) pass get me in?
We have a close, working relationship with our friends at the NPS, especially at Historic Tredegar where we share the site. However, we are a private institution and therefore your NPS pass will not grant you admission to any of our locations.
How long does it take to visit each site? Is there a guided tour?
Guided tours of the White House of the Confederacy generally last about 45 minutes. Our three museums are all self-guided, so the amount of time it takes is up to you. The typical museum visit is an hour to an hour and a half, though we've certainly had visitors spend an entire day going through our exhibits. Check our calendar to see if any special programs or tours are happening on the day you are here, which may be worth allotting some extra time.
Where is a good place to eat nearby?
Our Visitor Services staff will be happy to help you find a place to eat. If you'd rather search on your own, the Richmond Region Tourism and Historic Appomattox websites are good places to start, depending on which of our locations you are visiting.
Is the museum available for event rental or weddings?
Yes. All of our sites are available to rent for special occasions including weddings, meetings, corporate events, and more. Please contact Tracy Hynes by email or at 804-649-1861 x148 for more information.
Does the Museum have any items belonging to my ancestor, or a specific person?
To find out if we have anything belonging to a particular person, contact the Museum’s Collections Department at (804) 649-1861, x115 or by email. If the object is not on display, you may be able to arrange an appointment in Richmond to view it.
