Submarine Boat H.L. Hunley by Conrad Wise Chapman


Confederate soldier-artist Conrad Wise Chapman sketched the submarine “Hunley” while stationed in Charleston, South Carolina during the Civil War, and later created this full-color image from his sketches and notes. This is one of 31 Chapman paintings in the collections of the American Civil War Museum.
