Who Am I? Guessing Game
In the interactive game, students use clues and artifacts to discover the identities of seven mystery figures. Each figure represents a different role within the war. Clues and artifacts include quotes indicating alignment, clothing, tools, weapons. Seven figures include the USCT Lewis Douglass, Confederate spy Belle Boyd, Union POW John Simpson Crocker, Cherokee Confederate General Stand Waite, Union drummer boy Willie Johnston, and Union nurse Dorothea Dix.

- Why might a specific person have chosen the actions that they did? Do you think those actions were difficult decisions? Why or why not? Use clues given for each person.
Suggested Activities
- Have students research one of the figures. Then, have them write a letter to their family as the historical figure. What kinds of emotions might the people feel? Why do these people feel this way? Ensure letters include the historical material given and that each letter references the artifacts given as clues.
- Have students pick a person and write a short story about the notable Civil War event or place that might be important to them. Describe how the person would react or behave in the event and their role within the event.
