Description

From PastPerfect:
A star cut from the United States flag that flew over Virginia’s Capitol Building when Virginia seceded on April 17, 1861.
“This piece of flag was cut out of the last Union flag that floated over the capitol at Richmond before the war of 1861-5. It had been hauled down by the Confederates when Virginia seceded from the Union on April 17, 1861, and had been thrown aside as junk in the attic of the Capitol. The flag was about 25 or 30 feet long.”
