‘I am always looking for areas of professional growth. My current role is as an instructional coach, so I will be able to utilize my experiences when I develop professional learning courses.’
What are the greatest challenges you face teaching the Civil War era? What strategies do you use to address them?
‘Helping students understand the quotidian aspects of life. It is tempting to only learn about the war in terms of Lincoln vs. Davis, or Lee vs. Grant. However, I encourage students to alternate perspectives in their understanding of the conflict.’
