Description

Noted artist John M. Barber has skillfully depicted the Battle of Hampton Roads and the CSS Virginia (formerly known as the USS Merrimack) and the USS Monitor battling near the entrance of Chesapeake Bay on March 9, 1862.  The original commissioned artwork was done in support of and in conjunction with the American Civil War Museum (ACWM).  The iron upper armor of the Virginia was forged at Tredegar Ironworks, now the site of ACWM. Both canvas and paper prints are available online and at the ACWM Tredegar site.
