Blizzards, Revenge, & In-Laws

December 15 @ 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm

The American Civil War Museum–Appomattox is pleased to host the Appomattox Petersburg Preservation Society for their lecture.

On a cold February night in 1865, Confederate Partisan Rangers led by Jesse McNeill slipped into Cumberland, Maryland, and captured not one but two Union generals—Benjamin Kelley and George Crook—without firing a single shot. Discover how this daring raid unfolded, the fate of the captured generals, and how Crook would go on to participate in the final Virginia campaigns leading to the surrender of Confederate forces at Appomattox Court House.
