History Explorer Day: Frederick Douglass

The ACWM offers free admission to all Virginia Public and homeschooled school students! Please register for capacity purposes. Admission for adults will be collected at the museum front desk.

Join us for a special History Explorer Day on January 20th! You’ll have the opportunity to meet Frederick Douglass, portrayed by Nathan M. Richardson, and hear him speak about his evolving views on the U.S. Constitution and American Democracy. There will be two presentations at 11:00 am & 2:00 pm.

Learn how Douglass, a formerly enslaved man who became a writer, orator, and abolitionist, used photography to further his message of freedom and equality by creating a craft using Douglass’ words and image.
