All sites are closed on New Year's Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day, and close at 2pm on Christmas Eve. We are open every other day (weather permitting). Click one of the locations below for site-specific information and directions. 

Directions

Historic Tredegar

Historic Tredegar is located on downtown Richmond's riverfront near Brown's Island and Belle Isle. The Museum shares the 8.9 acre site with the Richmond National Battlefield Park Visitor Center. Free parking in our lot is included with admission. 

Our new Museum is now open and features two new exhibits:  The first is our core, permanent exhibit, A People’s Contest: Struggles for Nation and Freedom in Civil War America, on the main floor.  The other, Greenback America, is temporary and resides on our second floor. The James River Park System features a multitude of recreational opportunities, many of which are accessible directly from Historic Tredegar.

The White House of the Confederacy

The White House of the Confederacy is located at 12th and Clay Streets in Richmond's historic Court End neighborhood, about three blocks from the State Capitol. The White House offers free parking in the VCU Medical Center Visitors Deck located on 12th St. (just bring your ticket with you for validation- the deck is also free on weekends). PARKING NOTE: There are height restrictions in the parking deck. Please be advised that certain tall campers, vans and other vehicles may not be able to enter the deck due to these restrictions. Please plan your visit accordingly to look for alternative street parking.

Once you have parked make sure you go back up to the top level of the deck and when you exit the building, the White House is just across the street.

The American Civil War Museum - Appomattox

The American Civil War Museum - Appomattox is located at the intersection of US 460 and State Route 24, just down the road from the Appomattox Court House National Historical Park. There is ample free parking on-site.
